1) Deep down, Jia Ling knows that her beloved husband, Ah Loong will come back home. Almost every day, she prepares Ah Loong’s favourite Ang Ku Kueh and unsweetened herbal tea. Day by day, she waits patiently along the corridor humming to her favourite chinese tune. But Ah Loong never returns home and Jia Ling continues to wait.
2) James’ legs rest comfortably on the cushion. With a tube of Ben & Jerry’s, he could ask nothing more but peace. Slowly, the aroma of fish head curry surrounds his home within minutes. Quietly, he tip toes to the kitchen not realising that his wife was hiding and ready with a spatula in her hands.
3) Seth loves staring at Rachel; the girl whom he feels for in school. However, Rachel never notices him. Unlike the other boys, Seth is not popular and not good-looking. In fact, he loves geography and hates sports. One day, confidently, Seth walks up to Rachel with a rose in his hands and gives her.
4) Geraldine owns two pet hamsters; Mojo and Jojo. Geraldine has a younger brother, Liam, who often irritates her. One day, as Geraldine tidies the hamster’s cage, she left her pets in a box. Thinking that it was rubbish, Liam picks them and throws them into the bin.
5) Siti sits by the corner of the room feeling remorseful of what she has done. She scans the cell. Thick walls, small space, silver grills and cold floor made her feel queasy. She wants to go home; to see and embrace her family members. As she tries to put herself to bed, she cries silently not wanting the officers to hear her sob.
